Returning citizens have become integral members in criminal justice reform efforts. It is important that we make sure they always have a seat at the table. The testimony of their journeys helps shape the way we create programs and provide support. Many returning citizens are working with agencies, including public defender offices that are serving and representing clients and communities that are directly affected. In addition, they are active in their communities and strong voices of advocacy for much needed local, national, and systemic change.
